Certified Network Professional Program |
British Designation Now Accepted by
International Network Professional Association
San Diego, California. (May 23, 2007)-- The British Computer Society's (BCS) Chartered IT Professional (CITP) standard has been adopted by the US based International Network Professional Association. The move means that CITP is now recognised as an entry requirement for the international Certified Network Professional's (CNP) program and network information technology (IT) practitioners who hold the Chartered IT Professional (CITP) designation now qualify for the CNP designation.
"We think this is great news for professionals who hold the CITP status and for the IT profession as a whole." said David Clarke, BCS Chief Executive. He continued: "Recognition by the NPA demonstrates the tremendous value of the CITP status to the IT industry and profession around the globe. We hope other organizations will follow this excellent example."
The BCS introduced Chartered IT Professional (CITP) as the gold standard to recognise professional IT practitioners. There are more than 17,000 registered members who hold CITP status and the number is growing rapidly as individuals and employers recognise the importance of defining and acknowledging the achievement of professionalism.
"Candidates who hold the CITP designation no longer have to go through a rigorous and lengthy process to qualify for the CNP designation" said NPA Board Chairman Jim Belasco. "The CITP designation already provides proof of knowledge and experience competency. It gives us a necessary professional standard upon which we can use to measure the qualifications of a CNP candidate."
The CNP designation was created in 1996 by the NPA, which serves as the advocate for the international network computing professional. Holders of the CNP designation possess IT and networking experience and education. They also adhere to a code of ethics and strive for continual growth. The trademarked CNP is internationally recognized. The CNP designation was updated in 2005.

The CNP program was developed and funded by the Network

organization dedicated to advancing the network computing profession.
